Frequently Asked Questions we get!
Hopefully this helps :)
What is Tallow?
Tallow is a nutrient-rich, rendered fat derived from the suet of a cow, the raw fat surrounding the kidneys and loins. Suet is naturally high in stearic acid, a beneficial saturated fat that gives tallow its firm texture and stability. Through a slow heating process, the suet is gently rendered and purified with Celtic salt and alkaline filtered water, resulting in a clean, shelf-stable fat. Its color can range from white to yellow, depending on the cow’s diet, higher beta-carotene levels from grass-fed & finished sources can produce a more yellow hue.
Tallow has been used for centuries in traditional cultures for its valuable properties. It was a staple in cooking, candle-making, and soap production, prized for its longevity and versatility.
Why do you say that your product aids in relief and can potentially heal, but not cure?
Our products are made with natural, nutrient-dense ingredients known for their soothing and restorative properties. While they may help support skin health and provide relief, we don’t claim to cure medical conditions. Everyone’s skin is unique, and results can vary.
Why are your prices lower compared to other brands?
Our vision is to help people transition into a more optimal, healthy lifestyle. If prices are too high, it makes that transition difficult. We strive to keep our products as affordable as possible without compromising quality, so more people can benefit from tallow-based skincare.
Is it true that whipped tallow oxidizes?
There’s no evidence to suggest that whipped tallow oxidizes faster than unwhipped tallow. We choose to whip our tallow because it creates a smoother, more spreadable texture, making it easier to apply. A little goes a long way, and it works better as a moisturiser compared to a solid balm. If you're looking for a balm-like texture, we recommend our Calendula and Chamomile Balm, which is designed for targeted application on problem areas.
What makes you different from other brands?
We prioritize purity, transparency, and affordability. Our tallow is sourced from certified organic, grass-fed, and finished cows, and we use only the highest-quality ingredients. We also take extra care in our rendering process, using Celtic salt and alkaline filtered water for optimal purity.
Why don’t you offer discounts often?
Rather than inflating prices and offering discounts later, we’ve chosen to keep our prices fair from the start. Even when other brands run sales, our products often remain more affordable.
What’s the truth about added Vitamin E?
Vitamin E can be derived from plants or petroleum products. Common plant sources include wheat germ, sunflower, safflower, and soybean oils. However, most Vitamin E used in skincare is derived from soybean oil, which has been linked to potential health concerns for both men and women. Additionally, the extraction process involves deodorized distillation at extremely high temperatures, which may alter its properties. If you're mindful about the ingredients in your skincare, it's important to know the source of the Vitamin E used.

Why are you so transparent and honest?
Because you deserve to know exactly what you’re putting on your skin! We value integrity and want our customers to feel confident about what they’re using. No hidden ingredients, no misleading claims, just real, high-quality products.
What if I have a reaction?
We always recommend patch testing before using any new skincare product. Apply a small amount to a discreet area and wait 24 hours to check for any irritation. If you experience a reaction, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist if needed.

How long will my tallow moisturising cream last?
The shelf life of our tallow moisturising cream depends on how often and how much you use it. Here’s a general guideline:
• 100ml jar: If used sparingly (about a pea-sized amount once or twice a day for face and targeted areas), a 100ml jar can last about 2 to 3 months. For body use, it may last about 1 to 2 months.
• 250ml jar: With regular use on larger areas (like the body), a 250ml jar can last approximately 4 to 6 months or longer, depending on frequency and application.
Keep in mind that everyone’s usage is different, and these are just typical estimates based on average daily usage.

Tallow Rendering and Purifying Process
We take great care in rendering suet into cosmetic-grade tallow using a gentle wet rendering method. This process involves heating the suet with alkaline filtered water and Celtic salt to draw out impurities and eliminate any strong beefy odour. We repeat this process multiple times to ensure the tallow is pure, clean, and free from any unwanted smells.
After each rendering, we use cheesecloth to strain the tallow, ensuring that no impurities are left behind. All of our equipment is made of stainless steel and glass to avoid leaching chemicals or microplastics into the tallow. We also use low-tox dishwashing products and cleaning tools to maintain a safe and clean environment.
Throughout the process, we preserve the nutrient-rich composition of the tallow, so all its natural vitamins and fatty acids such as vitamins A, D, E, K and B1 remain intact. As a low-tox family and business, we only produce products that we’re proud to use ourselves, ensuring the final tallow is clean, nourishing, and completely free from toxins or impurities.
