Why Nappy Balm?
Why parents choose this over conventional barrier creams.
Physical protection, not chemical
Non-nano zinc oxide is a physical mineral that sits on the skin surface and forms a barrier. Unlike some synthetic barrier creams that rely on chemical compounds, zinc oxide is inert and well-tolerated by newborn skin. At 15%, it's a meaningful, effective concentration.
Botanicals chosen for delicate skin
Certified organic calendula and chamomile are infused directly into golden jojoba, not added as decoration. Calendula has a long history of use on irritated skin. Chamomile is traditionally valued for its calming and conditioning properties on delicate skin. Both are here because they do something.
Tallow and ghee for newborn nourishment
Grass fed tallow and ghee deliver bioavailable fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K that newborn skin can actually use. No synthetic emollients, no petroleum-derived ingredients. Real, recognisable ingredients that have been used on skin for centuries.

Is it safe for newborns?
Yes. It's formulated specifically for newborn skin. Free from synthetic fragrance, preservatives and fillers. Suitable from birth. Patch test before use.
How does it compare to conventional nappy creams?
Most commercial nappy creams contain synthetic preservatives, fragrance and petroleum-derived ingredients. Ours uses six recognisable natural ingredients with non-nano zinc oxide for physical barrier protection. You can read the full list and know exactly what every ingredient is.
What is non-nano zinc oxide?
Non-nano means the zinc oxide particles are large enough that they don't penetrate the skin barrier. They sit on the surface and create a physical shield against moisture and friction. This is different from nanoparticle zinc oxide, which is smaller and can potentially be absorbed.
Can I use it on other skin irritations, not just nappy rash?
Yes. Many parents use it on dry patches, minor irritations and sensitive areas on older children as well. The formula works on any area of irritated or delicate skin.
Will it stain clothing or nappies?
Zinc oxide can leave white marks on fabric. This is normal and usually washes out. Applying a thin layer reduces transfer.
Does it have a smell?
No. The formula is completely fragrance-free. The tallow and beeswax have a very faint natural scent that dissipates quickly after application.
Does the balm melt in summer?
The balm softens in temperatures above 35 degrees, which is completely normal and doesn't affect the product. Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
